Girls team wins title.

U HIGH STARTS SEASON on RIGHT FOOT!

Cross Country opened the season Thursday at Kenwood’s Invitational where the girls won the championship and the boys were 2nd. – Aoife MacMahon won the race. In the boys Ben Bucheim-Jurisson won the race also. Rita Stern won the JV race. At the Gordon Tech Invitational on Saturday the girls team won the Championship! Sherry Fu won the race. Sarah Curci was 2 seconds behind in 2nd place. The boys were mid pack with Thomas Aquino being our top finisher. The U High teams run again on Tuesday at Washington Park. Labor Day

After another great workout on Friday in which the team did 2 miles on our course then a bunch of hills the team gets a holiday and gets to help out at the Park Forest 5 Mile. They get to have fun at the coaches house afterwards where they get to eats six foot long sandwich along with chicken, pasta and sweets! Those hills will have been worth the extra effort!

Pre – season Successful!

2 and a half weeks of pre season running has put the U High Cross Country team in good shape as they prepare for their first meet on September 10th at Kenwood. One more week of training before the start of school on September 8th should get the team close to race shape. Bith the boys and girls went to state last year and both are defending Regional Champions. The goal is to repeat the success of last year!

Time Trials Go Well!

On Tuesday August the 18th we ran our first timed runs of the season just to get the feel for what racing is all about. Everyone did well especially the new runners on the team. The objective was to run a hard mile and then come back and run another one within 20 seconds of the time you ran on the first one. There were many successes! Good job!

Wednesday August 12

The team did 5 miles with striders, drills and abs. Good first day. More to come. First meet is September 10th.

Practice wednesday morning at 10am

Be sure to be at practice this Wednesday at 10am to start cross country! It will be only about an hour or so and will be pretty easy! Have your physical form turned in!
